Pharmaceutical Grade Iron Oxide Brown
GMP-controlled iron oxide brown for tablets, capsules, film coatings and topicals, supplied in pharmaceutical grades for bulk production.
View productThe quickest way to narrow down food grade colorants and food grade additives is to start from your finished product, not from a catalogue. This hub maps the three named grades — Food Grade Iron Oxide Red, Food Grade Iron Oxide Yellow and Anatase Titanium Dioxide — against the four published applications, the processing conditions each product faces, and the documentation that travels with every shipment.

Three grades, three compliance routes. The table below reproduces the published values exactly; everything you compare later on this page refers back to it.
| Product Name | Standard | Purity (Fe₂O₃ / TiO₂) | Heavy Metals (As / Pb / Hg) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food Grade Iron Oxide Red | FCC / E172 | ≥ 98.0% | Below Pharmacopoeia Limits |
| Food Grade Iron Oxide Yellow | FCC / GB2760 | ≥ 86.0% | Strictly Controlled < 1 ppm As |
| Anatase Titanium Dioxide | FCC / USP / FDA | ≥ 99.0% | Compliant with Global Regulations |
Particle size, moisture content and pH are not published for these grades. Current values are issued on request together with the technical data sheet, so your specification is written against the batch you will actually receive.
Purity and heavy-metal limits are published; behaviour in your line is not. Use this matrix to know exactly which question to raise, and which evidence answers it before you commit to a purchase order.
| Condition | Why it decides the grade | How to close it |
|---|---|---|
| Heat stability | Colour shift after baking, extrusion or coating decides whether a grade is usable at all. | · confirm dwell time and temperature in the TDS |
| Light fastness | Retail display and clear packaging expose the product to light for the shelf life. | · reinforce with a sample held under your retail pack |
| pH tolerance | Acidic fruit and beverage systems behave differently from neutral sugar coatings. | · test at your lowest and highest in-process pH |
| Water activity | Low-water matrices and high-moisture fillings stress pigment dispersion differently. | · run a bench trial at your target aw |
| Dispersion behaviour | Streaking, specking and colour drift on the line almost always trace back to dispersion. | · free 50–100 g sample for dispersion testing |
| Opacity vs. transparency | Whether you need a masking white or a translucent tint changes which grade family you start from. |
Only the heat-stability, opacity and dispersion entries are supported by published statement. Every other rating must be confirmed against the current technical data sheet or your own bench trial — do not write a specification from an assumption.
EU-affected manufacturers need a white that still masks, and the iron oxide route only covers part of that job. The supplier offers an E171 replacement solution built from high-purity iron oxides and specialised inorganic blends that provide both opacity and colouring properties, while the iron oxide series itself is manufactured to meet the purity criteria of EU Regulation 231/2012 (E172).
Practically, that means two decisions: what replaces the masking white, and what stays in the colour palette. Both are covered by the same sample and documentation workflow.
For most buyers the paperwork is the purchase risk, not the pigment. These are the documents and process controls that accompany the food-grade range.
Send your application, target shade and annual volume and the technical team returns the latest TDS, MSDS and customized pricing. If your requirement is off-catalogue, the same route handles OEM and ODM colour development — including opacity targets for E171 replacement work, bulk contracts and non-standard pack sizes.
food grade iron oxide red is listed at fcc / e172 with fe₂o₃ ≥ 98.0% and heavy metals below pharmacopoeia limits. food grade iron oxide yellow is listed at fcc / gb2760 with ≥ 86.0% purity and arsenic strictly controlled below 1 ppm. anatase titanium dioxide is listed at fcc / usp / fda with tio₂ ≥ 99.0% and compliance with global regulations.
the published application note lists heat-stable colorants for high-temp processing under bakery products. because heat limits are not published per grade, confirm the dwell time and temperature for your line against the technical data sheet, then verify with a free sample run under your real bake curve.

yes. free 50–100 g samples are offered to food manufacturers for colour stability, dispersion and compatibility testing in specific food matrices. that sample is the fastest way to confirm a grade against your own process before committing to a tonnage contract.
a certificate of analysis with full batch traceability is provided for every shipment, including goods sent to europe. the technical team releases the latest tds and msds on request. the food-grade operation holds iso 22000 certification, haccp compliance and fda registration, with halal certification from recognised bodies and kosher certification for middle eastern and kosher supply chains.
lead time is typically 7–10 business days for 1–5 ton orders, with safety stock maintained for larger contracts. packaging is double-layered, moisture-proof food-grade pe bags inside high-strength paper drums or bags, on heat-treated and shrink-wrapped pallets. customized pricing, oem and odm colour development and bulk contracts are handled through the technical team.
